Helping people connect to nature

At Environmental Connections, we want to help you connect to nature by experience, in a hands on environment. We hope to ignite a spark, an interest or just increase your awareness about the many issues facing our planet, and help to guide you in finding your niche, and an opportunity that will lead you to a cause for action. This will naturally help your mental and physical well being, and you WILL make a difference.

Our mission at Environmental Connections, is to help people engage and immerse themselves in nature through involvement in our conservation activities and events.

We will provide you with practical opportunities, to reduce your ecological footprint, in a way that will be meaningful and rewarding and most importantly fun!

When people focus their energy on what they can do rather than what they can't, they are already on the path to success. We want to be able to provide you with an opportunity (volunteering, demonstrating, participating) to do something positive for yourself and for our planet.

We can do whatever you want, but we will do it outside, somewhere safe, (but different), somewhere awesome and beautiful. We know that spending time with, and in, nature (bush therapy), improves mental health.

We will develop a plan together, to identify your areas of interest and potential opportunities for involvement.

We can be with you along the journey to help guide you where you need to go, or we can just help you define a way forward from your current situation.

Working with us, can help you focus on the needs of someone else. We know that helping others is rewarding. You could be joining in with others who have similar interests and meet like-minded people.

We can do something physical, or we can just spend some quality time getting some fresh air, which will naturally make you feel better.

We can provide you with the opportunity to learn some new skills and/or refresh some old ones. We know that finding a connection with another organism, having a cause that you are passionate about, helps drive action and positive change.

At Environmental Connections, we’re here to help find your passion.

Hi, I’m Kim

I am passionate about connecting community through conservation. This has included running volunteering conservation days with schools, corporates and local community groups.

My work focuses on promoting grass-roots level local community action, on land and natural resource management. Coupled with my life long and innate love for all creatures great and small has helped me identify my passion for the planet and all it encompasses.

That’s why I set up Environmental Connections (EC). It is the culmination of my many years working in a wildlife park, being involved in native animal rescue and my studies in Biodiversity, Park and Environmental Management. It was during my rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing of injured wildlife that I recognised the greatest challenge facing our wildlife was loss of native habitats.

Empowering people with knowledge and opportunities to make a difference, is what I am all about.

I want to help others connect to nature and educate the next generation of Wildlife Warriors and Environmental Advocates and Activists.

Our Latest Projects

Bio Blitz in Gumeracha - Friday 1st October, 2021

40 children and 25 parents/grandparents joined Environmental Connections in Gumeracha as part of the Nature Festival celebrations. Children participated in lots of fun environmental educational activities and experienced a Smoking Ceremony and Welcome to Country on the banks of Kenton Creek, Upper Torrens catchment. They used nets to catch bugs and macro-invertebrates from the creek and look at them through magnifying cups, some caught tadpoles for the first time ever, they got up close and personal with worms and learnt about how valuable worms are in our society to help reduce food waste. Some joined Southern Cultural Immersion for an art and culture session and were very proud to share their artwork, others learnt about tree health and citizen science. Planting trees and building nest boxes were very popular for those kids who like the hands on activities and we are proud to share that almost 600 tubestock were planted on the day.
